The Alabama Flyers are more than just a basketball team; we’re a family. We’re dedicated to helping young athletes in Mountain Brook reach their full potential, both on and off the court.

Our Mission & Vision

Alabama Flyers Inc. is a 501(c)(3) community based non-profit organization in Mountain Brook, Alabama established in 2017 by Christian Schweers. The organization is currently led by Steven Conger, a varsity assistant for the Mountain Brook Spartans. The Alabama Flyers’ mission is to work relentlessly to be recognized as a process driven organization that’s full of over achievers who are hard working, unselfish, and fearless. The organization is designed to promote youth basketball in Mountain Brook, and places a premium on teamwork, skill, and character development. Boys currently in third through sixth grade and live in Mountain Brook, are eligible to play for the Flyers. All stakeholders take an active role in establishing and reinforcing our culture to help our kids become good citizens and max out on their potential.

Why join the Alabama Flyers?

If your son wants to improve his basketball skills or if he is interested in playing in middle school or high school this is a great opportunity to gain a competitive advantage! They will learn from and be coached by the Mountain Brook basketball coaching staff in a competitive setting, where they will continue to develop a strong relationship with the staff and learn our system. Additionally- all fees are tax deductible!

When do they play?

March, April, and May- no games or practices during Spring Break! The season doesn’t interfere or overlap with Rec or OTM! Competitive teams have two practices per week and play in five tournaments in the greater Birmingham area; typically play two games on Saturday and then bracket play on Sunday. If you are on the developmental “GFG League” team you will have two-three practices a week with one tournament plus skills training with 205 Hoops.

Where will they practice?

All practices take place on Mountain Brook School campuses. Tournaments are in the greater Birmingham Area.

Who can play?

3rd-6th grade boys that live in Mountain Brook.

Team Highlights

All teams get a highlight video, professional in game photographs, team/individual photo shoot, uniforms, bags, and Flyers swag!

How much does it cost?

$950- Discounts for sponsorship referrals and having multiple kids in the program. Everyone receives a tax deduction letter for your contribution. The fees cover: gym rental, coach stipend, spirit pack, tournament fees, photographers and videographer.
